Per wiki, It is the first feature film directed by Trier and the first installment of the director's Europa trilogy – succeeded by Epidemic (1987) and Europa (1991). Have watched 8 Trier film so far. Some I enjoyed and others not, but all fresh and interesting. This is an arty psychological crime drama when a brilliant but burnt out detective puts himself in the shoes of an evil serial killer and becomes entangled in a horrific subjective reality state. The relationship problems in the young family are too numerous but nothing really serious, such as death of a child, physical violence (or worse), substance abuse, financial ruin etc. The legal system is not to be blamed in this case, as the couple (Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver) act like children, unable to give and take to make any relationship satisfying and marriage enduring; although one can easily fault the husband for his old school views on marriage partnership (see note.) An engaging story overall and the performances of the lawyers (Laura Dern, Alan Alda, Ray Liotta) add spice and humor to the film's heartaches.

A clever crime thriller about the unlikely brotherhood between an undercover cop inside a drug organization and a mole in the police force. 1965 Thunderball - An international blackmail headed by Number 2. The story is as good as Bond's first three films with very good production sets. However, its fight scenes and stunts are poorly choreographed. The ladies all look good but Connery appears haggard being wet, in and out of the water half the time. - Rustico is absorbed in prayer off to one side, and Alibech is off to another. But Alibech is distracted. "I came here to serve God, not to remain idle. Let us send the Devil back to Hell." "Rustico, I don't know why the Devil flees from Hell, for if he were to rest there as willingly as Hell holds him, he'd never ever leave." Rustico is exhausted, He looks at the few roots and the little fresh water which are all he consumes. "You see, Alibech, we must punish the Devil and send him back to Hell only when he lifts his head out of pride. ... By the grace of God, we've outsmarted him now, and he wants nothing more than to be left in peace..." "Come, let's send the Devil back to Hell, so that he will leave me in peace." "Oh, in truth, my father, this Devil must be very wicked, and truly the enemy of God, if he even makes Hell hurt when he is sent back there." "My daughter, it will not always be so." "It's now broad daylight, my father, and you have sent the Devil back to Hell six times." "And we must do so until we have driven the pride from his head, so that he can be at peace." Alibech: "Verily, I do not recall ever having done anything that gave me so much joy and pleasure as sending the Devil back to Hell. ... - Rustico wages one final battle with his conscience. Then he raises his eyes, defeated. There is a strange light in his eyes. "You should know that the Devil is God's worst enemy, and thus the best way to serve God is to send the Devil back to Hell." "And how does one do that?" "You shall soon see. Do as I do..." And he begins to remove the few garments he has, until he's completely naked, and the girl does the same. Behold "the resurrection of the flesh": Rustico has an erection, in all the purity and simplicity of his chaste youth. "This is the Devil I spoke of. Now you see him. - Plenty of wonderful quotes and story lines from each of the trilogy. These are from the bonus track "Lost Body of Alibech:" Rustico is praying in front of his hut. He's much younger than the other two, and is in fact almost a boy, with pure eyes, eyes a bit bewildered but at the same time hardened in his decision to serve the lord at all costs. But even Rustico's innocent eyes cannot help but notice the youthful flesh of the girl coming to him. "Lord, what should I do? Drive her away so that the Devil does not tempt me? (He awaits divine inspiration.) No! I shall keep her here instead and put my strength to the test, for your glory..." Night has fallen, and Rustico and Alibech are stretched out on their rough beds of palm fronds. Rustico cannot sleep, and he tosses and turns and signs. The Devil is winning out... Summary:
This is the story from the bonus track "Lost Body of Alibech" before Alibech meets Rustico (see quotes for their devil and hell encounter):
Among the king's daughters is Alibech. She's no more than 14 years old, and her face has a moving innocence. She is clutching a doll, but her eyes stare strangely and obstinately off into space.
Alibech's brother: "Sister, do not listn to the chatter of infidels."
Her sister: "Sister, do not listen to the chatter of infidels."
Alebech, alone, in her young girl's dress, walks through arid and abandoned terrain with sparse brush of a pale green, almost blue color.
She walks and walks.
Night has fallen. Alibech sleeps the heavy sleep of a young girl beneath a cluster of palm trees, while curious little birds flutter about...
She walks and walks. Now it is truly deserted all around, reddish and rocky, with fissures and spires, and large, blazing plateaus. Dusk returns, and off in the distance, among a few desolate shrubs, a hut appears, and at its entrance stands a hermit.
An expression of deep astonishment covers the hermit's face as he sees the young girl.
She approaches silently, her eyes fixed on him, shy, questioning, and almost wild in their devotion, and he asked her: Who are you? "Why have you come here?"
"It was your God who inspired me thus, and I wish to serve him, but I don't know how. I seek someone who can show me."
He looks at her: How lovely she is! Fresh, unblemished, innocent, with that hint of wild nakedness beneath her childish garment.
"My daughter, not far from here is a holy man who is a far greater master of what you seek than I. Go to him..."
Further along is a second hut or small cave. The second hermit is absorbed in prayer, In the distance the small figure of the girl appears.
The eyes of the hermit, tempted by the devil, quickly assess her innocent beauty,
Second hermit (eyes turned up to heaven): What should I do? If I keep her here, I fear the Devil will tempt me. The flesh is weak, Lord!
(As if listening for divine guidance and assenting to it): I should drive her away, eh?
Second hermit: Continue on, child. Not far from here in that direction is another hermit by the name of Rustico who's far greater than I. Go to him... (He signs at what he's losing.)
Alibech continues on, obedient and with saint-like passivity.

- The standup: I live in the South Bronx. That's the country just north of Harlem and west of Puerto Rico. It's a very tough neighborhood. The dogs carry knives. Did you ever see a baby with a zip gun? You gotta have friends. You can't alienate anybody up there. Nobody. Black people, white people, Chicanos, Puerto Ricans, cockroaches. You gotta respect cockroaches. They got a good union. Last week, 15,000 marched down my block demanding better housing. But I love the South Bronx. Everywhere you go from there is up. Everybody has dreams in the South Bronx. I had dreams. Stop your average boy on a South Bronx street... and ask him what he wants to be. "I want to be an ex-junkie, man. " You can see them every day. You can't drive because of the dreams on the streets being seen by cokeheads. The minute that white line's laid down the street, you got somebody going. It's true. And then there is sex. Oh, yeah.
