Jack is independently wealthy now and so he does not need to chase clients but picks them as favors, interesting cases or being righteous. Same smart dialogue but with more humour than prequels. The stories are all released in 2016: "Cross," "Headstone," and "Purgatory."
Set 1--- ★★★★½ Jack is a ruggedly handsome, amiable yet damaged Irish private investigator who was once a "Guard" Sargent before he punched a Minister's lights out during a traffic stop. How's that not an alluring and endearing premise? Thoroughly enjoyed this hard boiled gumshoe series with three stories:"The Guards 2010," "The Pikemen 2011" and close to home "The Magdalen Martyrs 2011."
Set 2 --- ★★★★ Less fresh as S1 but still features the hard boiled Jack and his side kicks constantly sticking their noses in danger just to be Jack, and be close to Jack. Lo and behold, often with injurious if not deadly consequences. "When it comes to leaving well alone, I'm an eejit. And worse, a stubborn one." The stories: "The Dramatist 2013," "Priest," and "Shot Down 2013."
