White Bird

A Wonder Story

Absolutely beautiful story and illustrations! Sad WWII subject matter for younger readers, but presented well. The main character is someone children can identify with, so when she's suddenly forced out of her comfortable life, the effects of war hit home for the reader. This recounting of a teen Jewish girl involves just a handful of characters, making it easier for children to grasp the ways war affected individual lives, including children like them.
