I am reading the series in sequence in a relatively short time, so I see this particular book as part of a whole It fits nicely and has plenty of changes to the characters and even the county as a whole. The author keeps his characters changing, making the story refreshing, not doing things the same way every time. Quinn's world is messy, just like the world in which we live. Atkins work in this series is evocative of plots and villains created by Elmore Leonard. Although he hasn't yet written as well as Leonard, it's certainly possible, and this series is trending upward.
