Mr. Chartwell
Mr. Chartwell A Novel By Hunt, Rebecca Audiobook CD - 2011

Agree with the bleak evaluation of this bleak novel. Reviewers talk about black comedy and "exuberance" of this 1st novel. The audiobook reader does not seem to have understood this . She turns the whole thing into a thousand sentences all read in a tense, urgent, somewhat hushed voice with most sentences following the same duh - duh - duh- down intonation no matter what she's saying.

Incredibly tedious reading of a quirky novel that probably should have been a short story. The whole "black dog" thing was fun at first, then interesting, but then by Disc 3 of the 6 it was just repetitive and tedious.
