What Was I Scared Of?

a Glow-in-the-dark Encounter

This is essentially a form of ghost story for little children that teaches acceptance of others through common experience. It avoids potentially prejudicial stereotypes and cleverly distracts from situations that might be legitimately scary for children by making the object of fear something as mundane and neutral as an empty pair of pants. I bought a vinyl recording of this from the Scholastic Book Club in grade 4 and this has been my favourite Seuss story ever since.
