"Iris Johansen introduces a new kickass female protagonist, Alisa Flynn, a CIA agent who may be willing to go rogue if it means catching the most heartless band of criminals she's ever encountered. Alisa is aided by mysterious billionaire-genius-inventor Gabe Korgan and recurring character Margaret Douglas, an animal whisperer who brings along her beloved dog Juno to fight alongside them. Alisa is determined to rescue schoolgirls kidnapped from their African boarding school, in a ripped-from-the-headlines story. But Alisa is hiding her personal stake in the rescue from Korgan, and when the truth gets out, the stakes grow even higher. Now Alisa and Gabe's budding relationship may be at a breaking point"-- Provided by publisher.

Add a CommentAnother good book from Iris Johansen. This one kept me involved right from the first page. I love her strong female characters.
The tale is told in a style very similar to the original romantic suspense tales of the author that were heavy on the suspense and somewhat abrupt on the romance. I may almost feel like this is a half-written manuscript that has been polished and modernized by Ms. Johansen, but she does bring the recent events from the stories of Eve set in Africa. What I love about Iris Johansen's writing is that she has an incredible talent for creating strong, fierce female characters. This is, however, a well-written, strong book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Final review: 3.8/5 @Barcelonfan1 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
