I had the good fortune to watch the Original Twilight Zone on TV as a young teen (not allowed when younger) This remake TV series is lame and pitiful at best; it just "can't hold a candle" to the original. I'm not putting it down for sentimental reasons. The stories are pallid and lacking in the razor creativity that characterized the original series. I watched 3 different stories on different discs before deciding to not waste any more of my time.

This is NOT The Twilight Zone. How they got the rights to call it this is a good question and I guess you would have to ask CBS. The original Rod Serling is unmatchable. The 80's reboot I saw when I was a kid still holds strong with amazing scary episodes that in hindsight are underappreciated and overlooked. The 2000's one season reboot was flawed and a failure but at least it tried to stay loyal. There is no doubt that "some" episodes of all the previous Twilight Zones occasionally touched on so called social issues, but they never picked sides. This is total far-left propaganda that is so far off the grid that the scenarios would not have even happened pre-1968. If I wanted to watch something that screams "White person BAD" and "Black people and other people of color have NEVER done anything wrong" ..Just turn on MSNBC for 10 minutes. I am beyond disgusted with this reboot. I only give it 2 stars because the production and acting are good. But the stories and message are not The Twilight Zone.
It should have been called something else. Its ironic that Producer/Host Jordan Peele preaches about racism but has made millions of $$$ as a film maker in so-called racist White America. Hypocrisy flat on its face. Stay away.

Imagine trying to come behind Rod Serling to produce a series inseparable from his name. It's hard to imitate him. He was a beast in the rarest sense of the world, like a walking creature of jazz, I think you could consider him a form of hip-hop in his own time.
So don't expect a lot of homogeneous reviews on this piece of work. You cannot watch one without thinking of the two.
Nevertheless I recommend that you give this the chance it deserves. It seemed to get better & better for me, episode by episode & Blurryman had me hopping out of my chair. But that was not the best story in the series... I missed the point. But as Jordan said: Is just being scared out of your wits such a bad thing?
Mr Peele is quite talented, the production values are good. You'll see some familiar faces. I will look forward to season 2

The new Twilight Zone received mixed reviews. I think it is still worth a watch for fans or the original or any new fans coming into the series. The show still captures the factors of absurdity, weirdness, and horror that take place in the Twilight Zone with the adding effects of the 21st century. Creatures look more realistic and plots are more suited to a modern audience rather than playing on fears of the past such as a Soviet attack which is prevalent in the original series. I found it didn’t have as much as a presence as the 60s series and that some episodes were far fetched as far as twist endings went but for the most part I could feel the intense dread and suspense each new story brought about and for that I rate it 3 out of 5 stars. @mv6172 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I'm a huge fan of the original show (have every episode on blu ray as well as The Twilight Zone Companion book) AND I'm a huge fan of Jordan Peele's movies. So, I was really looking forward to this but... most of this first season is awful. The first episode is great and there are one or two others that had good concepts. But, it's like the episodes are written for stupid people. The messaging is so IN YOUR FACE that it quickly gets annoying. I actually agree with most of the social issue point of views that are presented here but it's so blatant that it took me out of each story. And wow, what's with all of the cussing?? I'm no prude, I cuss whenever I damn well please... lol... but it's like they had a script written and then someone purposely went back in and added "f***" and "s***" to every page. It's just random and unnecessary.

Sidenote: Jordan Peele is NOT writing or directing these episodes! That's a mistake. He proved with Get Out and US that he can do great Twilight Zone stories. But whoever these other random writers are, they clearly don't have that vision.

I will say that the episodes look fantastic. The sets, wardrobe, camera angles, etc. are all top notch. But unfortunately that's not enough to make me recommend this show.

This show is hit or miss. about half the episodes were good, and half not so good. Not what I expected like the original Twilight Zone. It has a political agenda that could have been left out, and it would have been better.

Here is certainly a terrific new series for 2020. I wasn't expecting the original Rod Serling series, but the modern version of each episode offered the viewer something unique and introduced some new actors. I understand that Season 2 is already in production and I hope the library will acquire it in the near future.

Nothing like the original. Instead of Rod Serling's sublime prose and understanding of human nature, we have bad scripts with stilted characters and lots of swearing. In no way does this show live up to the the original's legacy.
