I liked it.

A rare feat to find a coming of age film that aims to understand the teenage experience rather than mock it. Kelly Fremon Craig managed to do it in a funny, charming and relatable way that I feel will be remembered for decades to come.

This is going to be one of those "classic teen movies", I'm calling it now. It is an excellent blend of drama and comedy with A+ performances from the whole cast. Hailee Steinfeld is perfect as awkward Nadine. Great film.

I really liked this coming-of-age film! I thought it was funny with a good mix of drama blended in. Woody Harrelson and Hailee Steinfeld were awesome! Steinfeld is a super mega star in the making!!

I didn't hear much about this teen dramedy so went in with pretty low expectations. I used to be a teen and used to work with teens, which is maybe why I still watch movies about teens, even though I am hella old. Hailee Steinfeld of "True Grit" and Taylor Swift's squad is a teen whose life is thrown into disarray when her older brother starts dating her best friend. Awkward! Good performances and a nice balance of the comic and the poignant, although I didn't love the ending or the soundtrack. Woody Harrelson is understated as a cynical, but sympathetic teacher, Kyra Sedwick is her mom, and Haley Lu Richardson ("Support the Girls") her best friend. You might also like the show "Pen15" and the movie "Eighth Grade."

Worth a watch. This is a young adult/teenager movie but, oddly, IMDB rates it R - "American Pie" was much worse. I'd rate this Mature.
Even adults could get a refresher on social ettiquette from this movie. A story about the raging teenager hormones. All great acting ... yes, surprisingly, Woody Harrelson fits as a teacher. Spoiler: Novel to see an Asian male as a love interest. I suspect Erwin is a gentleman in real life. His features are unique - he would fit in Crazy Rich Asians series if they need more actors. I have no affiliation with Erwin. On a separate note, I always wondered where all those chips in the walls came from in fast food restaurants ...

Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson DELIVER in this ridiculously underrated coming-of-age teen dramedy from two years ago. Well worth a watch!

Teen angst + Woody Harrelson's brand of humor = worth watching.

The edge of seventeen is a movie about a typical life of a high school and what they have to do in order to survive or get through high school which some people dislike. It kind of relates to many people because some people complain that high school is the worst. My favourite part of the whole movie would be when the two friends finally start talking and solve things out between each other because I think that best friends should never be apart, but overall it was a good movie and I liked it. I rate this movie 3.5 out of 5. @movieslayer123 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

When I started watching The Edge of Seventeen I had very low expectations. If I'm being honest the plot itself isn't not exactly mind blowing. As a junior in high school, Nadine (played by Hailee Steinfeld) life is pretty complicated. Her best friend Kristi has always been by Nadine's side, that is until she starts dating Nadine's older brother. Now if I'm being honest, this movie is the definition of a teen drama though it still has it's moments. Woody Harrelson's character was the only one to really make me chuckle. I wished the movie focused more on Nadine's character rather than it's forced attempts at humour. 3 Stars

I would say that the prime aspect of this movie that I was absolutely blown away by was the accuracy of the way they represented day-to-day struggles that teenagers face. The producers perfectly explored the constant need to compare yourself to others and the need to accept the fact that there’s a chance your life may change in a split second depending on the smallest factors, which can happen all while trying to live up to the social standards set by your own peers. Although I personally cannot directly relate to a couple of Nadine’s troubles, I can list off numerous people that probably can. Nonetheless, I still found this movie to be an absolutely heartwarming and entertaining film. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed watching this movie and I’d definitely recommend it to mature audiences looking for a relatable, well-written and emotion-packed film. Rating: 3.5/5

Nadine: I had the worst thought: I've got to spend the rest of my life with myself.

May 11, 2020

Nadine: You know, ever since we were little, I would get this feeling like... Like I'm floating outside of my body, looking down at myself... And I hate what I see... How I'm acting, the way I sound. And I don't know how to change it. And I'm so scared... That the feeling is never gonna go away.

Mr. Bruner: [reading a text sent by Nadine to a boy she has a crush on] "You're complicated, and simple, and I feel this connection between us. I feel like I already know you." This is kinda sweet, I think you're overreacting. "I just want to be with you. I want to give you... head. I want you to put your mouth on my tits. I want to feel you inside me. We can do it in the Petland stockroom."

Nadine: Say something... Oh my God, say something! Please, help me!

Mr. Bruner: You need to watch out for run-on sentences.

Many quotes at IMDb including this on teens and their personal assistants:

My entire generation is a bunch of mouth breathers. They literally have a seizure if you take their phone away for a second, they can't communicate without emojis, and they actually think that the world wants to know that they are "eating a taco, exclamation point, smiley face, smiley face", like we give a fxck.
