"First in a new trilogy from Charlaine Harris, the bestselling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale-populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It's a pretty standard dried-up western town. There's a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There's a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there's new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he's found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth... "-- Provided by publisher.

do not waste your time!!! This is a convoluted grade school book. From a talking cat to witch craft to white supremacist to vampires that only suck each others blood. I did not finish reading this book it does not even deserve to be called a book.this is a zero star book.

I loved watching TruBlood on DVD, so I wanted to try reading some of Ms. Harris's books. I was surprised to find how unrefined her writing is, as if she is a beginning writer. But I thought she must have some really creative ideas, so I kept reading. But I had to stop when she started introducing the idea of a "White Supremacy" group called "Men of Liberty." She didn't explain why they were thought to be white supremacists. I looked them up to see if they are real. I got a blog of the same name that criticizes democrats and I suspect that the blog writer is a conservative, but could find nothing that would indicate that he is a "White Supremacist" whatever that is!!!! I can't read anything that promotes this kind of ideology that invents a term like white supremacy and accuses people of being that just because they are a white male and belong to a group with the word, "liberty" in it's name.

If you are into super naturals this is an excellent book. The author wrote the Sookie Stackhouse series which I loved. This book is a little more diverse with its characters and story line. The novel keeps you in suspense and is a page turner. It has now become a show (although not as good as True Blood which is hard to beat) I'm a fan!

I really liked this story. This town has the right vibe for that place where you could retreat to and be surrounded by interesting people. The characters are easy to connect with and their life is a great window to spend your time in.

I like the new tv show for this series so I was very eager to read the book. The writing style was a bit simple but I soon got wrapped up in the characters and forgot about it. It was a quick , easy read and I enjoyed the twists. I'm looking forward the next book in the series.

I decided to read this because I loved the Sookie books and there is a television show. The book was pretty good. The characters are very interesting. The story progressed well and I could not figure out who the killer was. I will be reading the next book.

If you love books with characters who are supernatural you will love this book.

The characters are more mature and the writing is more mature, too! Very enjoyable story about to be a television show.

Just finished and I loved it, hope the series will be just as good as her others. And someone thinks so in LaLa Land because its coming on tv ABC starting in June as a series. Hope they were able to live up to the books, and didn't change too much.
