This darkly festive tale of a yuletide ghoul reveals an irreverently twisted side to the holiday. The horror-comedy tells the story of young Max, who turns his back on Christmas as his dysfunctional family comes together and comically clashes over the holidays. When they accidentally unleash the wrath of Krampus, an ancient entity from European folklore, all hell breaks loose and beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own.

Good Christmas/horror combo. Might almost call it “family-friendly” due to lack of gore (nah, not really)? Not sure if I’d make it a Christmas season mainstay (perhaps “Rare Exports” more so) but a good version of the alternative Christmas film, especially ones containing unwelcome-at-times extended family.

Perfect Christmas movie. I loved the practical effects and the acting is pretty good . Not very scary, but is kids friendly so that makes sense . Is funny at times and very fun . Done by the same director who did Trick r Treat .

H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!... In a dark, creepy, "Chucky" meets "The Nightmare Before Christmas" sort of way. =^o^=

A truly original Christmas movie, I was spellbound. Christmas meets Halloween, death, mayhem, scary too! Not for kids under 16. Enjoy!

He's gonna find out who's naughty and nice,
if you don't let him in your chimney
He's gonna make you think twice
about that illegal cable splice

Good comedy horror. Very entertaining.

I was expecting some good-feel fantasy, but it didn't turn out the way it was. Never seen a horror flick that well before compared to the TV-made ones I already saw on SciFi, yet it was a retelling of A Christmas Carol except instead of going back in time, it was the elimination challenge here and there without the narration from off-screen you've always seen on reality television and certain documentaries. Christmas would never be the same again! The different Krampus telling from "My True Love Gave to Me" recommended me to watch the movie, but before that DeviantArt sponsored it last year and I did saw it today. Very intense for kids, but suitable for the mature audience especially "goffiks" everywhere.

I was getting disappointed at the first 15 - 20 minutes but then things changed.

Sexual Content: Very mild, in my opinion but thought I'd warn anyway. In a family picture with santa claus hes looking suggestively at the teenage daughter, which would probably be missed by most young children.

Omi: Saint Nicholas is not coming this year. Instead, a much darker, ancient spirit. His name is Krampus. He and his helpers did not come to give, but to take. He is the shadow of Saint Nicholas.
