Not the horror story I imagined from reading the flap, but quite engrossing. Though I'm not claustrophobic, I don't think I'd last long on a submarine, much less a U-boat from WW II. Narrative is quite evocative of what I can only guess is the tension, weather, danger, and comradeship that took place on those boats.
