The American Deep State

Wall Street, Big Oil, and the Attack on U.S. Democracy

Scott marshals convincing evidence for an American deep state, institutionalized in non-accountable intelligence agencies and private corporations. When the influence of Wall Street and international oil are added, the author argues that these powerful interests form a supranational state, repeatedly at odds with U.S. policies and interests.

[Be sure to memorize the top several paragraphs on p. 45 and dare any American to refute them. I recall in the late 1990s that the only public anti-Taliban critic was Mrs. Jay Leno, and on the pro-Taliban side were the American government, Diane Sawyer and the 60 Minutes crew, and the Socialist Workers Party {WTF?} - now we know why.]
I have to be very tactful and gentle in the review of this book, Prof. Scott has many good things to say and everything he says is of value, and overall, in general I am in agreement with him, I simply believe he is at Layer 2, when Layer 1 is where he means to be. COG is important to a degree - - and I coincidentally once spoke with Jimmy Carter's civil service professional he directed to reorganize FEMA, a really plugged-in guy, knowledge-wise - - but the Deep State is really predicated upon the financial control and obscuring of ownership, two major agenda points since the 1960s. [And I truly believe a forensic financial audit of the CIA, DIA and NSA would reveal all, but that will never happen, now will it?] Also, any sane reader of this book would refuse allowing any level security clearance to any member of the Clinton family and Bush family for ALL eternity!
