Loved this book!
My local library has done away with the Dewey Decimal System. (in fact, all of San Mateo County) I asked the librarian, "Why was this decided?" Her answer came with a audible sigh of frustration, "Because people can't find their books." The Dewey Decimal System is used to cataloge books, magazines, newsprint, multi-media, university papers and other important periodicals. Its been around for over 200 years. Its been used by professors and all manner of library patrons, including children during that time. Its an integral part of Degrees in Library Science. So...you're telling me the 'nextgen' and their adult parents can't figure out how to use it?! In this age of technology in AND in Silicon Valley no less, this speaks volumes and is just embarrassing! So, what did they replace it with? Well, think of the juvenile section. Alphabetical by SUBJECT, TITLE, AUTHOR. This is infantile! Also, it doesn't connect/jibe with the other libraries across the globe!California is suppose to be on the forefront of progress; this change is a step BACKWARDS. (imo) And shows the rest of the world how far California has fallen from the Renaissance Age of Enlightenment. California has become a harbinger of worker bees who know ONE thing fairly well to make a decent income...and nothing else matters. So sad.
