Author also reads this book...I was worried that was not going to be handle listening to Cokie Roberts for 12 hours. She does a good job of being knowledgeable about not only about the history but the inter-connecting relationships that were bounded pre and post war. This is not a book about the Civil War but the influences of the women that surrounded the political men of Washington and there own desires to gain power. Great audio book for the car and that give you insight of the 18th century America. Recommended for history buffs, commuters with long drives and women interested in politics and the women suffrage movement.

Authoritative content with lots of details. Civil War enthusiasts will appreciate Roberts' use of primary sources.
