Sheriff Walt Longmire is reading A Christmas Carol in his office on December 24th when he's interrupted by a young woman with a hairline scar across her forehead and more than a few questions about Walt's predecessor. The mystery woman seems to know him and claims to have something she must return to Lucian Connally. On his own for the holidays, Walt is at loose ends -- and despite the woman's reticence to reveal her identity, he agrees to help her. (Bestseller)

All of us have a favorite author(s) and/or a favorite series we like to follow. Well, the Walt Longmire is my series to read, written by Craig Johnson. I know Walt so well and have been with him in so many of his predicaments and adventures, and have truly enjoyed each and everyone of them.

This short story is a bit out of the norm for both Craig Johnson and Walt, but all the same, all the elements which draw me in were there and as always, not a bit disappointed. Having a glimpse into the early days of Walt and some of the characters who will be prominent in future episodes, was a delight. As always, any adventure with Walt leaves you with something to think about, and even though a short story, this story was no exception.

If you are like me a Walt Longmire follower and have not read this book, I would encourage you to do so, for you will not be disappointed.

Not his usual style or content. He sort of lost me with the cover picture of a B-29 when the story is about a B-25. Needs to kick his publisher in the butt!

A quick novella--about an hour and a half. Smaltzy but still good.

A novella, not the usual Walt Longmire story.

Best read at Christmas.
