I really enjoyed this book by Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz, and I enjoy watching the show. It was part inspirational and part biographical, about how Jenna began her career and got to the place where she and her character now are in the show. She writes in a light and fun way but also gets to the nitty gritty of life, work, friendships, and relationships. Lots of pictures, bold captions, and highlighted sentences making the book fun to read. (submitted by JB)

Choosing Glee by Jenna Ushkowitz is a part self-help book, part autobiography. Choosing Glee tells the story of how Jenna got from virtually unknown to a starring role on the hit TV show 'Glee'. Jenna starts from the beginning, explaining how she first became interested in singing, acting and dancing as a young girl in New York. She started out in commercials, but at the age of 10, Jenna was cast in the Broadway revival of The King and I. Jenna graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2007 with a B.A in Theatre Arts, with a concentration in Performance and a minor in Musical Theater. From there, she went on to become a part of the cast in the Broadway production of Spring Awakening. In 2009, she landed the role of Tina on 'Glee', which launched her into stardom. In Choosing Glee, Jenna explains how being positive and perseverance helped her succeed in the entertainment industry and how you, the reader, can achieve your dreams, too. Throughout the book, there are quotes from her Glee co-stars with words of advice to the reader. The book is told in a scrapbook format, which makes for a very fun and interesting read. There are many photos throughout the book. When I finished reading Choosing Glee, I felt like I really knew Jenna, and I was able to learn strategies for achieving my own goals. I think Glee fans of any age will really enjoy this book, but even the non-Gleek will still find Choosing Glee a helpful and feel-good read.

"Choosing Glee" is not so much a self-improvement book as an autobiography with a few pointers along the way. Relentlessly cheery, which is no bad thing.
