Julia, who is suffering from shock and trauma, rambles on about a woman who she claims entered the house, killed her husband, and ran off with her son. Wonderful writer. Read one of her later novels with same protagonists, loved it as well.

Good to read the earlier book with character Anika the investigative journalist and mother and Nina policewoman. I was able to link characters and events and felt like I knew some of the characters.

I loved the stories woven together in this novel combining the detective mystery with Anika's struggle to validate her life as a mother and journalist.

Great to read a detective thriller mystery written from a woman's perspective of the legal system and the media.

typical of the series, the main character proves everyone else to be wrong, slow-thinking, biased, (although she gets a shock to find that she was completley off the mark in one of the sub-plots and perhaps a bit wrong-headed herself about a few people) , nice twist in the tail ending , that character was hiding something and it was what we might all guess but it is a bit trickier than that.

Not the best book I have read. It took forever to get into it and even then it still didn't feel like a crime novel, more if a drama.
