Emily and her friends think they'll find the help they need in Cielis, but something isn't right. Streets that were once busy are deserted, and the townspeople who are left live in fear. Emily is soon escorted to the Academy where she's expected to compete for a spot on the Guardian Council, a group of the most powerful Stonekeepers. But as the number of competitors gets smaller and smaller, a terrible secret is slowly uncovered--a secret that, if left buried, means certain destruction of everything Emily fights for.
After entering the city of Cielis, the gang made up of Emily, her family and her friends, feel that everything is not what it seems. Emily is separated from everyone else with hopes to meet the Guardian Council; a group of powerful stonekeepers, but is met with a secret instead that could ruin everything that she is looking for. I would rate this book a 4/5. Once again, the amazing drawings by the author add to the amazing storyline that is slowly starting to grow within the āAmuletā series, creating for a great book. The suspense from wondering what the city of Cielis truly is was growing throughout the book, which created for a good ending that most likely created a better storyline for the next few books. @Aylos of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
max griffin is a devious man, who has stayed alive and young for 50 years. he plans to annihilate emily through the void and by taking the mother stone without her knowing.
this part of the series is about Emily and the lost city, but somethings not right. the deserted and island is drought with fear and Emily has to change it.

This book was not as good as the other ones because it wasn't as fun to read. It could be better. It was isn't as interisting.
