This show had a lot of promise! The English subtitles were a bit small!
An interesting, unique story! The acting was good! Some funny, amusing scenes that are classic! It just needed something more! Polishing!? More money for the production? It definitely has the low-cost- production feel..
The ending was ambiguous!
I hope this film will be redone.. using the same male actors, who were great, into a much better quality film!

Just like the recent Swedish films "Patrik Age 1.5" and "The Square" - "The Swimsuit Issue" is yet another picture from that country that I found to be overwhelmingly disappointing and, yes, downright boring, as well.

I thought that this movie's story-line was so irritatingly contrived and the actors' performances so annoyingly self-conscious that it took all of the patience that I could possibly muster in order to sit through it from start to finish.

IMO - "The Swimsuit Issue" had "Made-For-TV-Movie" written all over it.

From hockey to synchro-swim? Well. this is NOT Sports' Illustrated Swimsuit Issue; then again, years ago, sync-swim used to be a male-only sport just because the men swimsuit was one-piece and streamlined while the women's had flounces that made them look like Marie Antoinette. Don't get me wrong, women were/are ways better than men in sync-swim and more graceful to watch, yet the men are making a comeback! This Swedish movie spawned a couple o' Brit n' French copy-cats, namely, Swimming with Men and Le Grand Bain. Watch this original instead! Stay for the final credits for excerpts of 100-yr old newsreel.

This is the wonderful story of a group of ageing athletes that have seen better days. Basically they get kicked out of the practice hall because they're too old so the team captain finds a new sport they can all still do, male synchronized swimming. There is a lot humor, fun, light-hearted moments, yet still realistic with a sprinkling of side-stories. There is also a tender secondary main theme of a father reconnecting emotionally with his estranged teen daughter when the mother leaves to take a job abroad. I have watched this movie multiple times and it always leaves me with a smile.
