While I love reading Alexander McCall Smith books, I felt this second in the Corduroy Mansion series seriously petered out toward the end.
A talky, fussy British style book for fans of that genre and fans of A. M. Smith.
Great series! As always McCall Smith has engaging characters with interesting stories. Can't wait to read the next installment.
A couple of good passages does not make a good read - I'm sorry , AMCS - a novelist is not your strong suite . Essayist , yes ... your writing about Berthea's dinner conversation and the Scottish Highlands was good
I loved this book. Recommend readers start with the book "Corduroy Mansions" (1st in this series). Once again this writer is on the mark with multiple on-going stories, complicated relationships, and of course, Freddie de la Hay ...the dog! Actually this is an eye opener to all pet owners considering loaning out their companion ...granted in this example it's rather extreme, but easily extrapolated into our own lives.
This writer has a particularly amusing form of writing that I thoroughly enjoy!
“No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” creator Alexander McCall Smith needs no introduction to readers. This latest installment of his “Corduroy Mansions” series follows the adventures of canine hero and Pimlico terrier Freddie de la Hay, who has been recruited by MI6 to infiltrate a Russian spy ring.
