Not a particularly stimulating script. I gave this two and a half stars only because Kristin Scott Thomas played the leading character otherwise I would have only given it one star.

Ending was unexpected but the premise of the film is not believable - wife of a rich man falling for an ugly and convicted handy man?!

If you know what’s good for ya’, you’ll see every movie Kristin Scott Thomas is in. ‘She picks ‘em.’

This is a tough one, however. Ninety thousand years so far (it’s ending right about now, thankfully) in this ‘Domination Reality’, with the Masculine Principle doing the dominating. All to service the key concept of proving ‘we are an island’. Being a machine is the goal and we’ve almost gotten there.

Anyway, director Catherine Corsini makes her point—love is (woman is) powerless against the system even in France. Well, at least it is French and nicely done. Would be a good double feature with the Richard Burton “1984”, with John Hurt.

So we’ll keep riding Kristin Scott Thomas ‘til we all drop. We just gotta. But could you lighten up a little next time? I’m exhausted.

A twist ending... I guess that's what makes this movie interesting and unforgetable. Kirsten did a bold decision to bare substantially in this film.

Kristen Scott Thomas' performance is the only reason to see this film: She's fantastic. I wish the movie had a better script and a more believable ending. Also, I didn't feel like the two main characters had much chemistry.
