What a marvelous documentary about the world of art in Paris from 1905 to 1930. Although the film helps to explain the development of such art schools as Fauvism, Cubism, Dada, and others, painting, drawing and sculpture are not the only art forms which flowered in Paris in these years. There is the Ballet Russes, architecture, poetry, literature, and music. We find everyone from Aaron Copland to Pablo Picasso, Langston Hughes to Josephine Baker, James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, Braque, Apollinaire, Chagall, Miro, Corbusier, Cezanne, Gauguin, and many, many more. What an enjoyable education about art at the beginning of the 20th century!!! Highly Recommend!! Kristi & Abby Tabby

Charming and revealing documentary about Paris and the artists and writers who lived there from 1905 -1930. It was wonderful to see how various art movements developed in relation to what was happening socially and culturally at the time. Loved learning interesting tidbits like the fact that both Braque and Picasso developed the art style called Cubism, and that they talked to each other incessantly and painted so similarly that sometimes their works became indistinguishable from each other's. Then, years later, the friendship ended. You'll have to watch the doco to discover why! :-) Fascinating!

A great documentary on the artistic movements in Paris from 1905 to 1935 that defined art in the modern world. And great photos and clips of the great city of Paris.
