Carl Fredericksen, a retired balloon salesman, is part rascal and part dreamer who is ready for his last chance at high-flying excitement. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, Carl sets off to the lost world of his childhood dreams. Unbeknownst to Carl, Russell, an overeager eight-year-old Wilderness Explorer who has never ventured beyond his backyard, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. The world's most unlikely duo reach new heights and meet fantastic friends. Stuck together in the wilds of the jungle, Carl realizes that sometimes life's biggest adventures aren't the ones you set out looking for.

Just a clash of a series of events. To make the story more meaningful it could have included more about the loving relationship between the main character and his wife. Less than a 1 star.

Odd film, some cute scenes and situations. Not my favorite Pixar film.

Bawl through the first five minutes and then meet the best example of a talking dog in fiction. Pixar does what they do very well.

This is an amazing film and will be enjoyed by everyone, beware though the first little bit is heart wrenching, especially if you are an adult who has experienced any of the struggles/life challenges the couple faces.

I watched this twice and every viewing gives me a different perspective of what I missed.
Be kind to the elderly is a subliminal message but has humor too; 'my name is Russell, and the dog Doug comes to greet the two & don't forget to watch the extra scene that is attached to that; I watch Up when I need to remember there is kindness in the world with all the other things in the day to day crap.

five balloon houses for bring out a positive feeling at the end of film

A fantastic opening twenty minutes gets slogged down by the middle of the movie with some B-grade Disney/Pixar efforts.

Carl Fredricksen: This is crazy. I finally meet my childhood hero and he's trying to kill us. What a joke.

Dug: Hey, I know a joke! A squirrel walks up to a tree and says, "I forgot to store acorns for the winter and now I am dead." Ha! It is funny because the squirrel gets dead.
