As brash and gritty as the 70's post-punk music it celebrates, go in-depth to look at the brief but vital trajectory of a band that died with its troubled frontman, Ian Curtis, only to be reborn as the equally influential New Order. Features interviews with all surviving band members and explores the Manchester origins of this revolutionary act, their partnership with Factory Records founder Tony Wilson, and collaboration with legendary producer Martin Hannett.

I recently borrowed "24 Hour Party People" and thought it was pretty bad. This DVD is about the band Joy Division and does an excellent job interviewing band members and associated individuals who were close to the band. It also has quite a bit a live footage of performances. A great DVD for those who love their music or for those who would like a little more inside information about this seminal band.

Very insightful documentary. The live footage of Joy Division's performances is excellent; I had not seen such extensive footage before viewing this. The interviews with Hook, Sumner and Morris are extremely personal and honest, and they give us a glimpse of Ian Curtis' life off stage. I recommend this to any fan of Joy Division or the early post-punk movement.
