Not bad, but not great. Something wasn't right about this as a DC movie -- the tone wasn't quite 100% there, something in the chemistry between the writing/directing/something didn't quite nail it .... not sure. It was as though this was a TV level production that got produced as a movie. I'm glad I saw it, but out of the DC/Marvel films .... this is one on a short list that I won't be watching again. In a nutshell, my review is "Meh." But don't take it from me ... take it from our library and library users .... note that the library system as "Total Copies: 53" and "Available: 38" -- if it was so great, there'd be a waiting list -- probably we could unload at least 35 copies AKA more than 1/2 of this inventory.

This was a disappointment because in her generosity Ms. Robbie highjacked a movie that should have been centered on her character and her character alone. The majority of actresses involved are all capable enough but they all deserve their own movie. This should have been about Harley Quinn and Harley Quinn only as Ms. Robbie, IMO, has incredible on-screen charisma. I don't think we'll be seeing a sequel but a spinoff? Who knows?

It's a good bad movie.
Deserves the R16 rating.
Fast paced and silly and violent.

This film carries some excellent set design and cinematography, and that's about it. The storyline is so predictable it's a joke and not the funny kind. Props to Margot Robbie for doing her best crazy to try and save this snoozefest. There are at least two more sequels slated for Harley which shows you just how empty Hollywood is of new and fresh ideas. Can we move on from the comic book adaptations already??? Please!!!!

really bad!

I loved it! I loved the action, humour, the light hearted plot line. It all blended in very nicely together and made an entertaining movie.

The only thing they left out was the captions, BAM, POW, etc from the 60's Batman TV show. Very disappointed, but glad I didn't pay to see it.

Much better movie then the first one. I don't know why the movie stresses the Birds of Prey though as they are maybe 5% of the movie?

Removing the Joker from this film saved it from falling under his shadow again. Like a bird, the film can spread its wings and soar confidently. Shame it feels lackluster anyway.

It's so bad that it's good. Nothing more needs to be said about it.

I am a huge Harley Quinn fan, and was disappointed in the movie. I would have loved a cameo with Jared Leto as the Joker, as he and Margot have great chemistry together. But, the whole girl power movie just missed the mark.

I really liked this! Great strong female characters able to take care of themselves and the problem at hand. Interesting, fun, violent.

While watching (DC COMICS) - everyone knows about Batman, Robin & the Joker.
This 2020 ACTION-COMEDY Movie: Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn, was produced by same company: DC Entertainment.
The wonderful storyline, throughout this 1hr 49min movie is about HARLEEN QUINZEL (known as Harley Quinn), having a tough time with the breakup from her boyfriend "the Joker". She turns into a Psycho Girl, to get revenge against everyone.
From beginning to end of this "RATED-R" DVD movie, there are LANGUAGE THROUGHOUT (which fits appropriately into each scene).
Harley Quinn joins up with (Renee Montoya, The Huntress, Black Canary, Cassandra Cain) - to get back a precious diamond, from Romain Sionis ----- Every place there is a fight scene, the fighting is wonderfully choreographed in the funhouse.
This a must-watch (*teenage appropriate*) movie, to see how (4 female Unexpected Allies work together), using their flair and character personalities), for the greater good of Gotham.
** MY OWN COMMENT **: Too bad everyone already checked out from library and watched this DVD movie before me (and therefore my movie review is irrelevant).

Who is Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie)? Per wiki: a frequent accomplice and lover of the Joker, who was her patient when she worked as an intern psychiatrist at Gotham City's Arkham Asylum. While helping each other against the crime lord Roman Sionis/Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), "Birds of Prey" is born and Quinn is set free. Pretty interesting origin stories but could be better without those pervasive F-bombs coming from every character.

Not the worst movie I’ve ever seen but definitely down there for me. All over-the-top chaos and not much else. Probably I’m just too old for this kind of approach. Is the plot about female empowerment and getting out from under the bootheels of bad men? Hard for me to tell because of what I consider poor writing and a mediocre story and nothing even flirting with an approach to reality. Pity, because I liked Suicide Squad and thought Harley Quinn was one of the most interesting characters and was looking forward to a movie focused on her.

Super enjoyed this movie. I haven't seen any of the other DC films other than Wonder Woman (more of a MCU person) but was excited to see this one and it didn't disappoint. Highlights: costumes, Ewan McGregor (didn't recognize it was him until halfway through the film - great transformation), Margot Robie's great comedic and physical acting, and Rosie Perez because OF COURSE. Instant crush on The Huntress.

The follow up to Suicide Squad portrays strong female characters helping out an angry, lovesick Harley Quinn. After her very public announcement regarding her break up with the Joker, Harley Quinn finds that her previous position as the Joker's girlfriend provided her protection from all her past enemies. Now she's alone and in need of friends. Enter Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya and one teen pick pocket that leads to some very entertaining scenes. Worth the watch for female-centered action.

I was excited to see that Harley was getting her own movie since she did so well in the Suicide Squad (really the only character that I liked in that movie). Unfortunately, Birds of Prey was made by DC producers/directors/executives who are stuck in the 80's on how movies are to be. It had a good cast and could have been a great movie, but it was not that good. Missed the mark again for me DC.

I saw this movie in the theater. Awesome movie! I can't wait to watch it again.

Let me just throw it out there: this movie is not for kids. It is rated R. It has A LOT of uses of the f-word. You know the one. It's more violent than "Suicide Squad" was.

Review: "'Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)' is really about Harley’s breakup from the Joker and the formation of the Birds of Prey. Like anyone who has gone through a bad breakup, Harley begins drinking away her problems, gets a new pet, cuts her hair, and eats Cheez-Whiz straight from the can. She realizes her taste in men is terrible and that she’s never truly been on her own before; it’s scary for her.

If you enjoy a team of fine women beating up men, you will love this movie. The action scenes are a whole lot of fun and there is never really a moment where I worried one of the actresses wasn’t going to make it out alive. Do I love a tense, life-or-death situation? Yes, but there was also a sense of security and comfort knowing that these women were ultimately going to be fine. Once again: see Sarah’s and my conversation about Charlie’s Angels.

There was a tweet I saw about how the villain of the movie is really toxic masculinity and that’s spot on. A majority of the main characters are directly affected by things like workplace sexism, gaslighting, emotional abuse, being constantly underestimated, neglect, etc. at the hands of men. The women don’t hesitate in joining forces and the pivotal fight scene of the movie is the four adult women protecting a young Cassandra Cain. Even just thinking about all the strong moments of girl power is making me tear up right now at my computer."
