Loved this book! Laughed out loud several times but mostly was a page turner about how things would land. Inspires me to clean my house!

LOVED IT! Laughed so hard I almost had an asthma attack! What a great idea for a book! Touching and compassionate where it needed to be as well as outrageously humorous. If this had been a movie, I could see Dudley Moore as Andrew!

This was okay. I kept reading because I was curious how the main character was going to unveil his big lie and that was done really well. However, I found the main character based too closely to the author. The obsession with Ella…

This book was promising but I couldn't get into it at all. Funny at times but mostly really slow and depressing.

I found the book poignant and funny. A great light read.

Everything towards the end was pretty meh, but I thought the writing and dialogue was genuinely pretty funny.

I waited and waited for my turn to read this. Lots of people had requested it. Took about 10 weeks. I was expecting something so much better. It seemed padded with writing that was unnecessary and predictable. It was an OK story - and I…

Love love love this book! I didn't expect to love it so much given the premise but the characters are likeable and seem real, I couldn't put it down and definitely stayed up long past my bedtime reading this. It's quite easy reading and…

Not too sad. Quirky main character. Reminded me a bit of A Man Called Ove or The Rosie Project.

This is a real heart warming, funny first novel. A real gem. I loved it.

A heartwarmingly funny look at overcoming grief and the universal need to love and be loved.

So very funny, and also touching at times. This is a book somewhat similar in theme to Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, which is one I've recommended many times to friends, but in this case the main character is male, albeit equally…

this story has a vibe similar to eleanor oliphant is completely fine or educating rita. I almost DNF but it had its charming/quirky moments

A great premise (who does look after people who die alone?), exceptionally well written, and without the maudlin or overly romantic/optimistic overtones that dull the sharp edges.

I really wanted to like this book but it reminded me too much of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and A Man Called Ove with a quirky character that we are supposed to root for and find a solution for. The one thing is that this book…

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practise to deceive!" - Sir Walter Scott, Marmion, Canto vi. Stanza 17. "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - The Gospel of John 8:32 The cover has a remark…

It's a really sweet novel featuring Andrew, who is quite content being a model train enthusiast and civil servant with a fake family until he get to know his new co-worker Pat, and feels like he can get out of his rut, and be more! It felt…

I like Brit writers. I like them because they write the way ordinary people live, think, and speak. Roper uses a deft hand introducing an under-the-radar, lonely, 40-something Andrew with ISSUES, who's earning a living in some obscure job…

I went into this expecting a quirky, lighthearted book and while there are plenty of humorous moments, I was surprised to find it poignant, perceptive, and sometimes downright sad. So often we think that there’s always tomorrow – to reach…

Charming and tender, recommended in the Wall Street Journal. Reminds me of Detectorists, especially Andrew's train comrades.

A New & Noteworthy pick. Andrew has a wife and loving family. But wait, that’s a lie. Can Andrew risk opening up and telling the truth when he has the opportunity for friendship, or perhaps more? A lovely, quirky debut about loneliness and…

I wanted to read this book when I saw someone had said "if you like JoJo Moyes' books, you'll love this one." Not true. I've read all of her books and this one was not even close to being as good. This one was a waste of my time and I…

Despite the title having "die" in it, I was expecting this to be a complete romcom, but it has a deeper side to it that I liked. It wrapped up a little too tidily for my taste, though. I recommend it because it was interesting to read…

Definitely life-affirming, but also annoying at times. Andrew's job is a constant reminder of the perils that come with life and relationships. He does home inspections after someone dies alone to find a person to receive the death…
